Volunteer Guidance
Hunger, food insecurity, and social isolation are realities everywhere, but they are especially apparent in the Northeast Kingdom and Washington County of Vermont. Lack of access to resources and information further complicates life for many. As everyday living becomes less and less affordable, more people are forced to live on a shoestring budget.
Volunteers at organizations like Neighbors in Action are critical to help community members in need. We hope this volunteer guidance will provide the information necessary for every volunteer to be successful in their important role of helping others.
Safety & Dignity
Food and physical safety
is important in all of our programming and services. We want to ensure that everyone who interacts with Faith in Action has a safe and fulfilling experience.
Dignity and respectful interactions
are also key to making clients and volunteers feel valued. This can take the form of welcoming clients, asking questions, careful listening and responses that are non-judgmental and helpful.
